Sea fishing

At Alnes the fish are just outside your front door! With the boat that is moored at your own dock you can easily reach the fishing grounds. We’ll give you a few tips if you’re a bit unsure about your sea-legs.

Each cabin has some fishing tackle and crab-pots that you can use.

Children's corner

Quayside and shoreline

The biggest fishermen are usually small children! Alnes is the Eldorado for kids! Under each stone along the shoreline there are all sorts of creepy-crawlies and fish by the fistful under the quaysides.

Hundreds of children have spent hours and hours with their noses over the edge of the floating dockside with a fishing line, hook, bait and breathless expectation! The fish they catch – and they do catch them – are not always edible, but who said they have to be?

At low tide the place to be is by the rock-pools. That’s when you try your luck with an elk. An elk is simply a piece of string with a fish-head in one end. If your luck is in crabs will latch on to your elk and you will be able to lift him into your bucket. Crab-claws, anyone?

Alnes Lake

Fresh-water fishing

Fancy a change from sea-fishing? Climb the mountain and fish for trout in the mountain lake. You’ll need a fishing licence. The fish in the Alnes Lake are not so easy to catch, but that’s surely part of the charm?
