| The
biggest fishermen are usually small children! Alnes is the Eldorado for
kids! Under each stone along the shoreline there are all sorts of
creepy-crawlies and fish by the fistful under the quaysides. Hundreds
of children have spent hours and hours with their noses over the edge of
the floating dockside with a fishing line, hook, bait and breathless
expectation! The fish they catch – and they do catch them – are not
always edible, but who said they have to be? At low
tide the place to be is by the rock-pools. That’s when you try your luck
with an elk. An elk is simply a piece of string with a fish-head in one
end. If your luck is in crabs will latch on to your elk and you will be
able to lift him into your bucket. Crab-claws, anyone? |
